Your Guide to a Vibrant 2018
Happy New Year!
So here I am again…the time of year where I reflect on the previous 365 days and cast visions for the 365 days that lie ahead. This time of year is always a bit of an emotional roller coaster for me. I’m excited for a fresh start, a little sad that another year has seemly flown by, grateful for the life that I am living and also anxious for the the things that I have yet to accomplish.
To find my way through the cluster of different thoughts and feelings I’ve found it super helpful to put pen to paper and write down those things that stand out in my mind that are a blueprint of the past year.
I’ll ask myself things like, what am I most proud of, what milestones did I accomplish, what surprised me, what left me feeling sad, happy, excited, angry….all of it. I think it’s really important to not only reflect on the shiny sweet things but also on those things that maybe weren’t so great….because it’s in those ‘not so great’ times where I think we can often learn the most about ourselves. There’s nothing quite as empowering and eye opening as coming out on the other side of a crappy situation.
So, I encourage you to reflect on your 2017 with an open heart and dive deep into everything, whether it filled your cup or depleted it.
Now, moving on to 2018 it’s time to do some goal casting!
Here is a hand out I created that helps you figure out how exactly to set goals that are both fulfilling and attainable.
If you are having a hard time coming up with inspiration for the new year a great way to get started is to DE-CLUTTER!!! Now, I know this sounds completely unrelated, but there’s something about clearing out the physical and emotional baggage that opens up space to allow for new thoughts and ideas to flow.
So pick an area of your life where you may be feeling weighed down.
Examples could include: your purse, pantry, email account, ‘my documents’ folder, filing cabinet or maybe it’s a matter of de-cluttering your emotional distress by letting everything that you’re feeling come out on a piece of paper. Once you complete the task, you will gain a new sense of pride and encouragement and I am 99.9% sure you will be able to come up with some new goals to aspire to for 2018.
Now for MY FAVOURITE PART!
My favourite way to visualize everything that I am hoping to manifest for the year to come is by creating a vision board. This is basically a collection of different images that represent the goals that you have set for yourself that paint a picture of the life you want to create in 2018. Once you create your vision board you can set it as your wallpaper on your desktop and phone, or print it out and put it in our favourite frame or maybe you want to keep it for your eyes only in a special place on your phone to look at everyday. Whatever the case may be I want you to make sure you look at it often, like many times a day, to root your goals and remind you in tough times, why it is so important for you to focus on these goals.
I use Canva for most things that involve graphics and images. It’s super easy to use and they have loads of done for you templates and free photos for to create your beautiful vision for 2018.
Here’s my vision board….I admit, I may have gotten a little carried away with the amount of images I used…but once I started I found it completely addicting!
I’m using this image as my banner for my facebook page so I can see it everyday and remember how it is I want to show up in the world this year, not only for myself but for the people that are part of my community.
I hope you are feeling inspired to create some goals for the new year. Remember that you are worth it, you deserve everything your heart longs for and I have complete confidence that you will be able to create a life that is vibrant and full.
